Massimo
Garlatti-Costa is born in Udine, Italy in 1969. After
his degree in Political Science and having studied at
the Scuola Ipotesi Cinema of Director Ermanno Olmi,
he moves to the UK in 1997, to become a graduate of
Sheffield Northern Media School, at Sheffield Hallam
University.
He
has worked for several production companies, both in
Italy and in the UK and several of his short films have
been produced and broadcast by BBC, Channel 4 and other
leading channels.
Many
of his short films have been selected by famous International
Film Festivals and have been awarded prizes. In 2000
he won with the film The Bridge the Best Film Award
in the Short Fiction Category at the EVEO Launch Contest,
L.A., USA.
In
2001 he has been awarded the Prix Wanadoo du Public
at 23° Festival du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand
with the short film The Showdown, co-produced by Channel
4.
In
2002 Buris, the hardcore village, a mockumentary about
an Italian village reviving its fortunes trough porn,
has won him the Prize Moret D'Aur.
Always
in 2002, with the BBC produced Rufus, he has been warded
the Oscarino for Best Screenplay and the Prize Alborella
che ride at the Premio Internazionale per Cortometraggi
di Lovere.
